Welcome to the 5th International workshop on Mining Actionable Insights from Social Networks (MAISoN 2020) - Special Edition on Dis/Misinformation Mining from Social Media. The workshop takes place on October 20 and is co-located with The the 29th ACM International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM2020), which will be a fully virtual conference.

Call for papers. In this workshop, we aim to to invite and gather researchers and practitioners from across the world and, in particular, from different disciplines, such as information retrieval, data mining, machine learning, data science, network science, social network analysis and other related areas to share their ideas and research achievements in order to deliver technology and solutions for mining dis/mis information from social media.

We solicit original, unpublished and innovative research work on all aspects related to the topics of this workshop. The deadline for submissions of articles is July 24, 2020 August 1, 2020.

Previous editions. The previous 4 editions of MAISoN took place at large flagship conferences in web search, data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence and information retrieval: ACM WSDM 2017, IJCAI 2018, ACM ICTIR 2019 and The WebConf 2020. They featured talks from various renowned keynote speakers on timely topics such as causal analysis, social influence spread and social bots. In addition, each workshop had an associated journal special issue, including special issues with high impact journals such as Elsevier Information Systems, Elsevier Information Processing & Management and the Springer Information Retrieval Journal.
